Lucky Dollar

This is true, so I'm telling it like it was. I was broke, working two jobs to support my two very young sons, and I was close to being homeless. I had no money, and I needed toilet tissue. There was none. I was walking home from my job as a biller at a trucking company, and I was looking on the ground for money, I needed 13 more cents for a roll of toilet tissue. As I walked up the hill towards Davis avenue, I spotted something on the ground. It was a dollar bill. I couldn't believe it. I rolled that dollar up and walked to Walter's deli for a sure roll of toilet paper. The toilet paper was 44 cents, the newspaper was 25 cents. So I pondered the difference a few cents could make in my life, and decided to buy the newspaper because I wanted to buy a lottery ticket with the dollar. I know, how could you think about wiping your derrier with newspaper, but I was thinking big. Not quite on the throne yet, putting it off for a run at luck. I knew I might wind up in the shitter on this one, but I was willing to make the sacrifice. After all the dollar was 'found' money. So I bought a lottery ticket. It was a scratch off for mother's day. I felt it.... I knew I won something, but my mind was telling me it was probably just another dollar. That's all I ever got, but it would pay for the toilet paper. I carefully scratched off the ticket, and guess what, I won 500.00 dollars. I really did. I couldn't believe it. I vowed that I'd play every dollar I find till the end of my life. And believe it or not I have won the lottery twice more playing with found money. Oh and I put the newspaper back and anted up and bought the toilet paper. |
